HAPPY NEW YEAR

—

It's getting cold out, eh?

An illustration formatted like a visual novel screen shot of Ardent standing next to a field at night time.

Details

Recently winter has been getting to me so I decided to try and take those emotions and run with them.
This isn't an actual screenshot from a VN I'm making, just a mockup done in my favorite drawing software.

As usual, this illustration features a hand painted background painted in poster paint and character art drawn with pencil on paper. The blowing snow and Ardent's character art was painted digitally!

Here's a look at the behind the scenes art.

Ardent the Pine Marten ref sheet 2023

Details

After many revisions, I've finally finished my reference sheet for Ardent!
I'm absolutely thrilled with how this came out!
The character art was drawn with pencil on paper and the background is painted with gouache paint on watercolour paper. This ref sheet went through a lot of iterations until I was satisfied with the layout and arrangement of this page!

You can check out the behind the scenes here!

Star Marten

Details

This is among the pieces of art I'm most proud of.

I feel like this illustration was a bit of an artistic breakthrough for me! I was going to sleep one night and this design came to me when I was half-asleep. In true surrealist fashion, this illustration is part dream, part daydream and it felt very meaningful to work on!

Part tarot card, part manuscript illustration, I had a lot of fun working on this and if I have more dreams like it, maybe I'll even make a personal set of tarot cards out of it!

It's absolutely worth checking out the behind the scenes work for this one!
